VERTIGO VIDEO INSTALLATION 2008

SHORT PART OF THE  VIDEO

VERTIGO (VIDEO INSTALLATION)

       Installation parts:
        · 8 different screens consist a 10 meters long frieze (video projections)
        · An upside-down wooden house (floor is a projection screen)
       · Mechanical moving screen (electric motor and adjusted circular moving screens create a 3D projection)

Main concept of the installation is the feeling of instability of our globalised civilization, instability that has to do with the loss of sense of real space and provokes the question: which is the role of the real space in politics?
The dramatic increase of speed in our societies, the enormous amount of information running instantaneously, the substitution of life through screens, the shift from the Real to the Virtual, leads our cosmos to a situation of vertigo; to a loss of orientation to an immense disorientation.
“What lies ahead is a disturbance in the perception of what reality is; it is a shock, a mental concussion. And this outcome ought to interest us. Why? Because never has any progress in a technique been achieved without addressing its specific negative aspects. The specific negative aspect of this information superhighways is precisely this loss of orientation regarding alterity (the other), this disturbance in the relationship with the other and with the world. It is obvious that this loss of orientation, this non- situation, is going to usher a deep crisis which will affect society and hence, democracy.”*
